Overview
Personalization is best applied when it’s fully automated and responds to every customer based on their unique circumstances. There are key events in the customer journey that almost all retailers send triggered messages based on, like cart abandonment, browse abandonment, and welcome, among many others.
Forever 21 adds Dimensions
Dimensions makes it possible to vastly expand the visibility of triggered messaging by as much as 14x when added to the daily marketing email. A retailer’s triggered program is generally its best-performing personalization. By adding this content to the daily email send, we see exceptional results, and the results get better with the more long-tail personalized use cases we add. The fully automated Dimensions program for Forever 21 took six weeks to go live after signing the contract.
Forever 21 implementation
The implementation is two banners. One dynamic Smart Banner™ placed at the top of every email sent, and one dynamic Smart Kicker™ placed at the bottom of every email sent. We call this bookending the daily email with personalization, and through extensive testing across numerous retailers, we have found this to be the most effective way to layer in personalization to your daily email send without impacting the daily workflow of a marketing team.
Validating Forever 21’s Dimensions performance
The implementation started with a 4 week longitudinal test that looked at revenue between the audiences. We ran an “A” group that didn’t see Dimensions and a “B” group that saw Dimensions. Audience members are only added to a group when the images load in their email for the first time (this approach reduces the noise from other subscribers), and once added to a group they remain in that group for the duration of the test.
Forever 21 results
After running the longitudinal revenue-based audience test for four weeks. We saw a 19% revenue lift from the audience seeing Dimensions and delivered 11x return on spend.
